Handset settings
Telephone settings
Telephone base ringer volume
Press
VOLUME on the telephone base to adjust the ringer volume when
the telephone is not in use. When you set the ringer volume to zero, the base
ringer is off and the system announces, “Base ringer is off.”
Press
/VOLUME during an incoming call to mute the ringer temporarily.

on how to use a system handset to modify the answering system settings
shown below.
