Answering system settings
Using a handset:
1. When the handset is in idle mode, press MENU/
SELECT to
enter the main menu.
2. Press T
CID or SDIR to scroll to >Answering sys, then
press
MENU/SELECT.
3. Press T
CID or SDIR to scroll to >Answer ON/OFF, then
press
MENU/SELECT.
4. Press T
CID or SDIR to highlight >On or >Off, then press
MENU/SELECT to save the setting. You hear a confirmation
tone. Press
OFF/CANCEL to cancel.
When the answering system is on, the handset screen shows
ANS ON.
NOTE: If the answering system is off and there is an incoming call,
the system answers after 10 rings and announces, “Please enter your
remote access code. For more information about remote access
codes, see page 54.
Voice guide
This feature is an alternative way for you to do the basic setup of the
answering system. You can follow the voice guide to record your own
announcement, set the number of rings, and set the message alert tone.
This feature is only available on the cordless handset.
1. Press MENU/
SELECT on the handset when it is not in use.
2. Press T
CID or SDIR to scroll to Answering sys, then press
MENU/SELECT.
3. Press T
CID or SDIR to scroll to Voice guide, then press
MENU/SELECT. You hear a voice prompt “This voice guide will assist you with
the basic setup of your answering system.
4. Setup your answering system by inputting the designated numbers as
instructed in the voice guide.
NOTES:
f You can press OFF/CANCEL to quit the voice guide at anytime.
f After a power outage, the handset prompts you to set the date and time, and Smart call
blocker. After these settings are done or skipped, the handset prompts if you want to set up
the answering system via Voice guide. Press MENU/SELECT to start the setup.

