Smart call blocker
Screen robocalls
¢¹¬À´ÅÇ¶´¿¿µ¿Â¶¾¸Å¼ÆÂÁ´Á·ÌÂÈ»´É¸ƸÇÃÅÂ迸ÇÂƶŸ¸Áŵ¶´¿¿ÆÇ»¸
telephone plays a screening announcement to the caller when receiving the
following incoming calls. It asks the caller to press the pound key (#) before
putting the call through to you.
f Incoming calls with numbers that are “out of area“ or with numbers set to
“Private“;
f Incoming calls with absent caller ID numbers;
f Incoming calls with numbers that are not in your directory, allow list, nor
block list; or
f Incoming calls with names that are not in your star name list.
Screen calls without asking for caller names
When screening a call, the telephone announces to the caller, “Hello. Calls to
this number are being screened by Smart call blocker. If you’re a family member,
friend or invited caller, please press pound to be connected. If you’re a solicitor,
please hang up now.ì¸ÅÇ»¸¶´¿¿¸ÅÃÅ¸ÆÆ¸ÆÇ»¸ÃÂÈÁ·¾¸Ì#), the telephone
announces to the caller “Please wait a moment while your call is connected.”.
The telephone starts ringing, and you can answer the call.
»¼ÆÂÃǼÂÁ¼ÆÆÈ¼Ç´µ¿¸¹ÂÅÌÂÈÇÂè¿Ç¸Å¶´¿¿ÆÇ»´ÇÈÆ¸Æautodialers to deliver
pre-recorded messages, for example, robocalls and telemarketing calls.
NOTES:
f The telephone announces to the caller with “Hello. Calls to this number are being screened by
Smart call blocker...” If you have recorded your name in the screening announcements,
your recorded name will replace “this number” in the announcements. See Screening
announcement on page 56.
f If the caller hangs up before the call is screened, or without leaving his/her name while the
call is being screened, the call will be logged as missed call in the caller ID log.
f While a call is being screened, you can press PHONE/FLASH or /SPEAKER to stop
screening and answer the call.
f If Smart call blocker is on and you receive a call waiting call:
- Smart call blocker will not screen a call waiting call without number while on a call. You can
press
PHONE/FLASH or /SPEAKER to take the new call.
- After you have picked up a screened call, the telephone checks whether the call waiting number

accordingly. You can press
PHONE/FLASH or /SPEAKER to take the new call, or press
CALL BLOCK on the handset to block it.
- While the telephone is screening a call, the new call will be ignored and logged as missed call in
Ç»¸¶´¿¿¸Å¢¿Âº
f Robocalls are unable to respond to the screening announcement, and therefore, will not get
through and ring. If you want to allow some robocalls to get through, save their names in the
star name list. See page 53.
f The telephone can respond to remote access code while it is playing the screening
announcement. This allows you to access your answering system from an unknown number
remotely. See Remote access on page 80.
