d) Inserting/replacing the battery
Operation of the multimeter requires a 9 V block battery (e.g. 1604A). You need to insert a new, charged battery prior 
to initial operation or when the battery change symbol   appears on the display.
Proceed as follows to insert/replace the battery:
-   Disconnect the multimeter and test leads from all circuits. Disconnect all test leads from the multimeter. Switch the 
DMM off.
-  Remove the battery/fuse compartment cover (see “Opening the battery/fuse compartment”).
- Replaceatbatterieswithnewonesofthesametype.Insertthenewbatteriesintothebatterycompartmentwith
the correct polarity. Look for the polarity signs in the battery compartment.
-  Carefully replace the battery/fuse compartment cover.
  Never use the multimeter when the battery/fuse compartment is open. DANGER OF DEATH!
 Donotleaveatbatteriesinthedevice.Evenleak-proofbatteriesmaycorrodeanddestroythe
device or release chemicals that are detrimental to your health.
  Do not leave batteries unattended. They might be swallowed by children or pets. Seek immediate 
medical attention if a battery is swallowed.
  If you do not plan to use the multimeter for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent it 
from leaking.
  Leaking or damaged batteries may cause acid burns if they come into contact with your skin. 
Always use protective gloves when handling leaking or damaged batteries. 
 Ensurethatthebatteriesarenotshort-circuited.Donotthrowbatteriesintore!
  Batteries may not be recharged or dismantled. There is a risk of explosion.
  Use the following item number to order a compatible alkaline battery:
  Item no. 652509 (please order 1x).
  Only use alkaline batteries, as alkaline batteries are more powerful and have a longer lifespan.
