c) Direct Voltage Measurement “V/DC”
Proceed as follows to measure direct voltages "DC" (V ):
- TurntheDMMonandselectmeasuringfunction”V ”.
Thedisplayshows“DC”andtheunit“V”.
- Plug the red measuring line into the V measuring jack (E)
and the black measuring line into the COM measuring jack
(D).
- Connect the two measuring prods to the object to be
measured in parallel (generator, circuit, etc.). The red
measuring prod indicates the positive pole, the black
measuring prod the negative pole.
- The polarity of the respective measured value is indicated
on the display together with the current measured value.
- Remove the measuring lines from the object to be meas-
ured after completion of the measurement and switch off
the DMM.
 Ifaminus“-”appearsinfrontofthemeasured
value for direct voltage, the measured voltage is
negative (or the measuring lines are swapped).
 Thevoltagerange“V/DC”hasaninputresistanceof≥10MΩ.Thiswillputbarelyanystrainonthecircuit.
d) Mixed voltage measurement “AC+DC”
The V-DC-measuring function permits measuring of mixed voltages (direct voltages with alternating voltage share).
On the one hand, the mixed voltage value is displayed in the main display; on the other hand, there will be an alternat-
ing display of direct voltage share and alternating voltage share in the small subdisplay.
The mixed voltage value is determined via the following mathematical formula:
Proceed as follows to measure mixed voltages (AC+DC):
- Turn the DMM on and select measuring function “V ”.Thedisplay
shows“DC”andtheunit“V”.
- Pushthebutton“SELECT”.“AC+DC”isdisplayed.
- Plug the red measuring line into the V measuring jack (E) and the black measur-
ing line into the COM measuring jack (D).
- Connect the two measuring prods to the object to be measured in parallel (gen-
erator, circuit, etc.). The red measuring prod indicates the positive pole, the
black measuring prod the negative pole.
- The calculated mixed voltage value is shown on the main display. In the subdis-
play, the direct voltage and alternating voltage share are displayed alternatingly
at 2-second intervals.
- Remove the measuring lines from the object to be measured after completion of
the measurement and switch off the DMM.
