i) Non-contact voltage testing (NCV function)
The NCV function (non-contact voltage detection)
enables the contactless detection of a current on
conductors. The NCV sensor is located on the top of
the clamp.
Always test the NCV function rst on a
known current source to avoid incorrect
measurements. There is a risk of an electric
shock in the event of incorrect
measurements.
Proceed as follows:
1. Turn the setting wheel to NCV. < NCF > appears
on the LCD display.
2. Place the NCV sensor next to a conductor with a
gap of 8 – 15 mm (gure 2). The current clamp will
send the following signals if a current is detected:
- For voltages ≤100 V/AC, < EF > will appear on the
LCD display.
- For voltages >100 V/AC, the device will beep.
10. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
a) General information
Turn off the current clamp before cleaning and remove it from the measured object.
The current clamp does not require maintenance except for occasionally changing the
batteries.
Under no circumstances should you service any of the components in the interior of the
device. For this reason, never open the product (except for inserting/changing the batteries
as described in these operating instructions).
Repair or maintenance work must only be carried out by a specialist or a repair centre.
Always clean the current clamp with a clean, lint-free, antistatic and slightly damp cloth.
