i) Non-contact voltage testing (NCV function)
The NCV function (non-contact voltage detection)
enables the contactless detection of a current on
conductors. The NCV sensor is located on the top of
the clamp.
Always test the NCV function rst on a
known current source to avoid incorrect
measurements. There is a risk of an electric
shock in the event of incorrect
measurements.
Proceed as follows:
1. Turn the setting wheel to NCV. < NCF > appears
on the LCD display.
2. Place the NCV sensor next to a conductor with a
gap of 8 – 15 mm (gure 2). The current clamp will
send the following signals if a current is detected:
 - For voltages ≤100 V/AC, < EF > will appear on the
LCD display.
 - For voltages >100 V/AC, the device will beep.
10. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
a) General information
• Turn off the current clamp before cleaning and remove it from the measured object.
• The current clamp does not require maintenance except for occasionally changing the
batteries.
• Under no circumstances should you service any of the components in the interior of the
device. For this reason, never open the product (except for inserting/changing the batteries
as described in these operating instructions).
• Repair or maintenance work must only be carried out by a specialist or a repair centre.
• Always clean the current clamp with a clean, lint-free, antistatic and slightly damp cloth.
