Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the
safety information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and
information on proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability
for any resulting personal injury or damage to property. Such cases
will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
a) General
The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may
become dangerous playing material for children.
Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong
jolts, high humidity, moisture, ammable gases, vapours and solvents.
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of
operation and protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no
longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or
accidental falls, even from a low height.
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices
which are connected to the product.
Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection
of the device.
Maintenance, modications and repairs are to be performed exclusively
by an expert or at a qualied shop.
If you have any questions that are not answered in these operating
instructions, please contact our technical support centre or consult a
professional.
b) Product
Never use the device immediately after taking it from a cold into a warm
environment. Condensation that forms might possibly destroy your
device.
Allow the device to reach room temperature before using it. This might
possibly take several hours.
Check the measuring electrode for damage before each measuring
operation!
On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association
of the industrial workers’ societies for electrical equipment and utilities
must be followed.
Be careful when handling ammable or caustic liquids. In that case, wear
safety gloves, goggles and an apron. Only measure in well-ventilated
environments.
Only immerse the sensor head in the voltageless liquids!
c) Batteries
Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the batteries.
Batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long
period of time to avoid damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged
batteries might cause acid burns when in contact with skin, therefore use
suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted batteries.
Batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave the battery
lying around, as there is risk, that children or pets swallow it.
All the batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new
batteries in the device can lead to battery leakage and device damage.
Never recharge non-rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion.
Operating Instructions
Measuring Stick for Electric Conduction
Item No.: 101138 Resolution: 10 μS/cm LWT-03
Item No.: 101139 Resolution: 1 μS/cm LWT-02
Intended use
The measuring stick makes it possible to measure how electrically conductive a uid
is. The quantity for this is the conductance, which is stated in μS/cm (micro-Siemens
per centimeter). The application area ranges from the domestic area through aquaria,
(sh) ponds, swimming pools, photo laboratories, schools through to garden centers
and so on. An application in the industrial areas (e. g. galvanisation technology) or
in liquids that are live, is not permitted. An automatic temperature adjustment (ATC)
provides stable readings also for different temperatures.
The device allows the reading of the conductance from 0 to 19990 μS/cm (item
no. 101138) or from 0 to 1999 μS/cm (item no. 101139) of dead-voltage, non-
combustible or non-corrosive liquids. Operation under adverse ambient conditions is
not permitted. Adverse ambient conditions are wetness or excessively high humidity,
dust and ammable gases, vapours or solvents. The product is powered by two
CR2032 batteries.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If
you use the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may
be damaged. In addition, improper use can cause hazards such as short circuiting,
re, electric shock etc. Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this
product available to third parties only together with its operating instructions.
This product complies with the statutory national and European requirements. All
