3. Rechargeable battery capacity („CAPACITY“)
The capacity of the rechargeable battery in mAh can be entered here in steps (see print on the rechargeable battery
or data sheet). The indicated capacity serves to evaluate the rechargeable battery in the rechargeable battery
programmes„CYCLE“,„MAXIMIZE“and„ALIVE“(seechapterRechargeableBatteryEvaluation).
Whenthe„CAPACITY“ischosenas„undened“,therechargeablebatterywillautomaticallybeevaluated.The
charger will also suggest the recommended minimum values for charge and discharge current at a capacity input
based on rechargeable battery programme and rechargeable battery type.
Permittedvaluerange:
• NiMH/NiCdroundcells: 500-20000mAh
• NiZnroundcells: 500-3000mAh
• NiMH-/NiCd-9V-blocks: 100-500mAh
Ifavaluebelowthepermittedrangeischosen,„Undened“appearsagain.
4. Charge current imitation („I-CHA-MAX“)

Thesetting„AUTO“workswithoutlimitationtoachargecurrentof3000mA.
Theautomaticmodeworksatalltimesandcontinuallyadjuststhechargecurrenttothecurrentvaluesofthe
rechargeable battery.
At the beginning of charging, the charge current is 500 mA. It increases up to a value optimised for the
rechargeable battery.
Evenif,e.g.„I-CHA-MAX“waschosenat2000mA,thechargecurrentwillnotbeabletoexceed1000mA,
sincetherechargeablebatteryisnotsuitableforthis.Thefollowingcontinuestoapply:At„I-CHA-MAX“of
2000 mA, the automatic unit will choose no higher charge current even if the rechargeable battery delivers
therequiredparameters.
Towards the end of charging, the rechargeable battery will increasingly convert supplied electrical energy
into heat. The automatic unit counters this if necessary by reducing the charge current. The result is added
charge and thus also more removable capacity.
5. Discharge current („I-DCHARGE“)
The discharge current can be set in this position.
Forthis,observethedeclarationoftheC-rate;seechapter8.c).
6. Cooling pause („COOL.TIME“)
Here,thecoolingtime(pause)fortherechargeablebatteryprogramme„MAXIMIZE“mustbesetthatisadded
after each charging process. This pause serves to cool off the rechargeable battery. The presetting of one hour
