User manual

Make sure that you always have this manual at hand to ensure safe operation. Keep this
manual in a safe place and hand it over to the next owner. When connecting and operating
the charging unit, a number of safety instructions must be observed.
The charging unit contains several security measures. Despite these precautions, the user
is responsible for the conguration he makes and its accuracy. Furthermore, the user must
ensure that all safety precautions for charging have been met. In addition, please observe
the following notes:
Place the unit in a secure place where it is completely steady and cannot fall down! Otherwise,
it could cause injuries.
Never place any objects in the ventilation slots! It can cause dangerous voltages and short
circuits with serious consequences.
For safety reasons, when charging or discharging lithium cells, ensure that the built-in ba-
lancer is used.
Only cells of the same capacity and the same make may be charged together.
Do not charge batteries that are almost or even fully charged.
Never charge batteries with higher charging currents than those specied by the manufac-
turer.
Always keep batteries away from ammable materials, both during and after charging. Store
the batteries in a reproof container
Never charge damaged or defective batteries.
Never charge batteries connected to an electrical circuit

Connection/start-up
When connecting batteries, always observe the polarity and the charging instructions of the battery manu-
facturer concerned.
Always connect the operating voltage to the charging unit before connecting the battery; this also applies to
the balancer connection.
After use, disconnect the charging unit from the power source and disconnect the battery.
a) Power supply
Power is connected via the lateral XT60 connection (2) on the left. The battery is connected via the side
XT60 connection on the right (8).
The polarity is determined by the connector geometry. When using the enclosed XT60 sockets,
please make sure the polarity is correctly soldered. The polarity is indicated on the side of the
solder contacts. Use cables with a sufcient cable diameter (e.g., 2.5 - 6 mm²).
After a short system test, the parameters are shown in the display.
b) Balancer connection
After the power supply to the charger has been connected, connect the XH-balancer
of the battery pack to the balancer connection strip (7). Always align the connector with
the negative contact with the negative terminal of the balancer connector terminal. If
necessary, use a suitable adapter
c) Connect the battery
The battery is connected via the side XT60 connection on the right (8). The polarity is determi-
ned by the connector geometry.
Operating instructions
Multi-function charging unit V Charge Field 300
Item no. 1595032
Intended use
The process-controlled charging unit is used to charge NiCd/NiMH type batteries (1-16 cells), LiPo/LiIon/
LiFe/LiHv batteries (1-6 cells) and lead acid batteries (1-12 cells, 2 V-24 V). The charging current can be set
between 0.1 A and 14.0 A. The maximum charging power is 300 W.
Batteries can also be discharged; the discharge current is between 0.1 to 3.0 A. The maximum discharge
capacity is 8 W.
A coloured graphic display with multilingual menu and dial with touch function facilitates the operation.
The charging unit is only intended to be used with a DC voltage of 7 - 32 V. The DC power source must
supply sufcient current to reach the output data. The input power of the power source can be preset from
50 - 330 W. This ensures reliable operation of the charging unit even with lower-power sources.
For lithium batteries, a balancer is integrated into the charging unit. The balancer compensates voltage
differences in multicell lithium battery packs during the charging/discharging process. Non-uniformly charged
cells reduce the capacity of the entire battery pack. The balancer is suitable for lithium battery packs with 1
to 6 cells. The charge status is indicated for each cell.
Non-rechargeable batteries (zinc-carbon, alkaline, etc.) may not be connected.
Observe the polarity of the balancer and connection cables!
Do not use the product under adverse ambient conditions.
Unfavourable ambient conditions are:
Damp or excess air humidity.
Dust and ammable gases, vapours or solvents
Strong vibrations.
Any other use than that described above is not permitted and can damage the product. Furthermore, there
are dangers such as short circuit, re, electric shock, etc.
No part of the product may be modied or converted!
Strictly follow the safety and operating instructions of the battery pack as well as the charging instructions
of the battery manufacturer!

An exclamation mark in a triangle refers to important information in these operating instructions
that must be adhered to.
Safety instructions
Please read the entire manual before using the device as it contains important informa-
tion for proper operation.
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by incorrect
handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! The warranty/guarantee will be
void in such cases.
For safety and licensing reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modications to electronic
devices are not permitted.
Do not leave the charger and connected rechargeable batteries, unattended while in ope-
ration.
To ensure safe operation, the user must follow the safety instructions and warning notices
included in these operating instructions.
Chargers and accessories should be kept away from children! They are not toys.
On industrial sites, the accident prevention regulations of the association of the industrial
workers‘ society for electrical equipment and utilities must be followed.
In schools, training centres, hobby and self-help groups, the use of chargers and accessories
must be supervised by trained personnel in a responsible manner.
Improper use (too high charging current or incorrect polarity) can supercharge or damage the
rechargeable battery. In the worst case, the rechargeable battery can explode and thereby
cause serious damage.
Never connect the charger to the battery pack immediately after taking it from a cold into a
warm environment. The resulting condensation could, under adverse circumstances, destroy
the appliance. Allow the device to reach ambient temperature before switching it on.
If safe operation can no longer be assumed, the device must be switched off and secured
against unintended operation.
Safe operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- does not function any longer and
- the unit was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
