On the Home screen, touch to access Wallpaper, Manage apps and Settings.
Power key • Press: activate the lock screen/wake up the screen. • Press and hold: show the pop-up menu to select from Power off, Restart, Airplane mode, Quick start, and icons for ringing modes. Press and hold: power on. Inserting or removing the SIM card You must insert your SIM card to make phone calls. Please power off your phone before inserting or removing the SIM card. • Press and hold the Power key and the Volume down key to capture a screenshot.
1.2.2 Power on your phone Installing the microSD card Hold down the Power key until the phone powers on. It will take a few seconds before the screen lights up. Set up your phone for the first time The first time you power on the phone you will be asked to set the following options: language, mobile data, Google account, date & time, etc. First remove the battery. Slide the microSD holder to the left to unlock it, then lift it up.
The Home screen extends on either side of the screen to allow more space for adding apps, shortcuts, etc. Slide the Home screen horizontally left and right to get a complete view of the Home screen. The white spot in the lower part of the screen indicates which screen you are viewing.
Notification icons Notification panel Touch and drag down the Status bar to open the Notification panel. Touch and drag up to close it. From the Notification panel, you can open items and other reminders indicated by notification icons or view wireless service information.
1.3.3 Personalise your Home screen Add an app or widget Touch the Application tab , then touch and hold the app or widget to activate the Move mode, and drag the item to any Home screen. Reposition an app or widget Touch and hold the item to be repositioned to activate the Move mode, drag the item to the desired position and then release. You can move items both on the Home screen and the Favourite tray. Hold the icon on the left or right edge of the screen to drag the item to another Home screen.
Adjust the onscreen keyboard orientation Turn the phone sideways or upright to adjust the Onscreen Keyboard orientation. You can also adjust it by changing the settings (go to Settings > Display > Auto rotate screen). 2.1.1 Google keyboard 3 Phone call 3.1 Placing a call You can easily make a call using Phone. Touch the Application tab from the Home screen and select Phone.
3.2 Answering or rejecting a call 4 People You can view and create contacts on your phone and synchronise these with your Gmail contacts or other apps on the web or on your phone. When using People for the first time you are asked to add new contacts, import contacts from your SIM card or synchronise contacts from other app accounts to your phone. 4.1 When you receive a call, touch .
To import/export a single contact from/to your SIM card, choose an account and target SIM card(s), select the contact you want to import/export, and touch to confirm. To import/export all contacts from/to your SIM card, choose an account and target SIM card(s), touch Select all and touch to confirm. You can share a single contact or contacts with others by sending the contact’s vCard to them via Bluetooth, Gmail, etc.
6 7 Email Getting connected Besides your Gmail account, you can also set-up external email accounts on your phone. Your phone can connect to the Internet using either GPRS/ EDGE/3G or Wi-Fi. Touch the Application tab from the Home screen, then select Email. 7.1 An email wizard will guide you through the steps to set up an email account. 1 Enter the email address and password of the account you want to set up. 2 Touch Next.
7.2 To turn on USB tethering or Portable Wi-Fi hotspot: Browser Using the Browser you can enjoy surfing the Web. To get onto the Web, touch the Application tab from the Home screen, then touch Browser. To go to a web page 1 Touch 3 Mark the checkbox of USB tethering or turn on Wi-Fi hotspot to activate this function. Sharing data may incur additional charges from your network operator. Extra fees may also be charged in roaming areas.
Use your phone’s GPS satellite receiver to determine your approximate location. The process of accessing the GPS satellite and setting your phone’s location for the first time may take require up to 5 minutes. You will need to stand in a place with a clear view of the sky and avoid moving. After initial set up, GPS will only require 20-40 seconds to identify your location. You can then start the process of finding the best route to another location.
12 Update your phone’s software Using the FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) Upgrade tool you can update your phone’s software. To access Software Updates, open the Notification panel and touch and then , then touch About phone > Software updates. Or you can directly touch and access Settings > About phone > Software updates. Touch Check for updates, and the phone will search for the latest software.
Product safety information RF exposure General statement on RF energy Your phone contains a transmitter and a receiver. When it is ON, it receives and transmits RF energy. When you communicate with your phone, the system handling your call controls the power level at which your phone transmits. Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Your mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limits for exposure to radio waves recommended by international guidelines.
Regulatory information The following approvals and notices apply in specific regions as noted. Distraction Driving Full attention must be given to driving at all times in order to reduce the risk of an accident. Using a phone while driving (even with a hands free kit) causes distraction and can lead to an accident. Your phone contains small parts with sharp edges that may cause an injury or which could become detached and create a choking hazard. Demagnetisation To avoid the risk of demagnetisation, do not allow electronic devices or magnetic media close to your phone for a prolonged time. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) Do not touch the SIM card’s metal connectors. Antenna Do not touch the antenna unnecessarily.
Battery handling & safety Always switch the device off and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. Only use the battery and charger supplied, or manufacturer approved replacements intended for use with your phone. Using other batteries and chargers could be dangerous. Do not disassemble or short-circuit the battery. Accidental short-circuiting can occur if a metallic object such as a key, paper clip, or pen touches the terminals of the battery.
Protection against theft (1) Your telephone is identified by an IMEI (phone serial number) shown on the packaging label and in the product’s memory. We recommend that you note the number the first time you use your telephone by entering * # 0 6 # and keep it in a safe place. It may be requested by the police or your operator if your telephone is stolen. This number allows your mobile telephone to be blocked preventing a third person from using it, even with a different SIM card.
