YoucanfindtroubleshootinginformationforallVMwareproductsinVMwareKnowledgeBasearticlesand
informationaboutvMAknownissuesinthereleasenotes.Table 2‐3explainsafewcommonlyencountered
issuesthatareeasilyresolved.
ThisreleaseofvMAprovidesthevma-supportscriptthatenablesyoutocollectvarioussystem
configuration
informationandotherlogs.Youcanrunthisscriptbyissuingthefollowingcommand:
> sudo vma-support
Thescriptgeneratestheinformationandlogbundleandappendsittothevmware.logfileontheESXihost
onwhichvMAisdeployed.
Update vMA
YoucandownloadsoftwareupdatesincludingsecurityfixesfromVMwareandcomponentsincludedinvMA,
suchastheSUSELinuxEnterpriseServerupdatesandJRE.
To update vMA
1AccesstheWebUI.
2Loginasvi‐admin.
3ClicktheUpdatetabandthentheStatustab.

YouwanttoenableDNSresolutioninvMA. YoucanconfiguretheDNS
resolutionnameserverforvMA
byupdatingthe/etc/resolv.conffile.Addthefollowing
lineforeachDNSserverinyournetwork:
nameserver <dns server ip address>
Typeman resolv.conffordetailsonthatfile.
IfvMAissetupforDHCP,andthenetworkisrestarted,
changesyoumadeto/etc/resolv.confarelost.
ProblemswhileaddingActive
Directorytarget
orconfiguringvMAforActiveDirectory.
IfyouareunabletoauthenticatefromvMAorcannotadd
vMAtothedomaincontroller,checkthefollowing:
YourDNSserversetupinvMA resolvestheIPaddressor
hostnameofthevCenterservertoanFQDNandthe
FQDNcontainsthedomainnametowhichvMAis
added.
Thevifp listservercommandshowsthenameof
vCenterastheFQDNthatcontainsthedom ainnameto
whichvMAisaddedasthesuffix.
ThedateandtimesettingsonvMA,thedomain
controllerandvCenterServerareidentical.Checkthe
timezoneaswell.Thetimemaynotexactlybethesame
butmayvarybyanhour.However,alargeskewinthe
timemaycauseauthenticationproblems.
IMPORTANTYoucannotupgradeapreviousversionofvMAtovMA5.0.YouneedtoinstallvMA5.0.
