Chapter 2 Getting Started with vMA
Setting the Time Zone from the Console
Youcansettimezonefromtheconsoleasdescribedhere.
To set the time zone from the console
1Ontheconsole,selectSetTimezoneandpressEnter.
2Whenprompted,selectyourcontinentorregionandpressEnter.
3Whenprompted,selectyourcountryandpressEnter.
Thescreendisplaystheinformationthatyouhaveselectedandthetimethatwill
beset.
4Type1iftheinformationiscorrect.
vMAsetsthetimezone.
Setting the Time Zone from the Web UI
YoucansetthetimezonefromthewebUIbyusingthefollowingsteps.
To set the time zone from the Web UI
1AccessthewebUIandlogin.
1ClicktheSystemtabthenclicktheTimeZonebutton.
2FromtheTimeZoneSettingslist,selectyourcountryandcity.
3ClickSaveSettings.
Shut Down vMA
BeforeyoupoweroffvMA,shutdownthevirtualmachine.
To shut down vMA from vSphere Client
1ShutdowntheoperatingsystemusingaLinuxcommandsuchasthehaltcommandonthevMA
commandline.
2PoweroffthevMAvirtualmachineusingthevSphereClient.
To shut down vMA from the Web UI
3LogintotheWebUIasvi‐admin.
4Inthe
Informationtab,clickShutdown.
Delete vMA
IfyouintendtodeployanewerversionofvMA,orifyounolongerneedvMA,youcandeletethevMAvirtual
machine.
To delete the vMA virtual machine
1RemoveallvMAtargetserversyouadded.See“RemoveTargetServersfromvMA”onpage 20.
2ShutdownvMA.
3PoweroffthevirtualmachinebyusingthevSphere
Client.
4InthevSphereClient,right‐clickthevirtualmachineandselectDeletefromDisk.

MPORTANTIfyoudeletevMAwithoutremovingallservers,thevi‐adminandvi‐userusersremainonthe
targetESXihosts.Thenexttimeyouaddthe hosttoavMAinstance,vMAcreatesausernamewithadifferent
numericextension.
