Alert Definition Symptoms Recommendations
vSphere High Availability (HA) has
detected a possible host failure.
vSphere HA detected a host failure
(fault symptom).
Find the computer that has the
duplicate IP address and recongure it
to have a dierent IP address. This
fault is cleared and the alert canceled
when the underlying problem is
resolved, and the vSphere HA master
agent is able to connect to the HA
agent on the host.
N You can use the Duplicate IP
warning in the /var/log/vmkernel
log le on an ESX host or
the /var/log/messages log le on an
ESXi host to identify the computer that
has the duplicate IP address.
Host is experiencing network
contention caused by too much trac.
Symptoms include all of the
following:
n
Host is experiencing dropped
network packets
n
Host network workload at
warning/immediate/critical level
1 Review the load balancing policy
in the Port Group and the vSwitch.
2 Add an additional NIC to the host.
3 Reduce the amount of network
trac being generated by virtual
machines by moving some of them
to a host with lower network
trac.
The host has lost connectivity to a
dvPort.
Lost network connectivity to dvPorts
(fault symptom).
Replace the physical adapter or reset
the physical switch. The alert will be
canceled when connectivity is restored
to the dvPort.
