3 Enter a name and, optionally, a description.
4 (Optional) Accept the supplied internal VMware IPAM endpoint in the IPAM endpoint drop-down
menu.
5 Enter an IP subnet mask in the Subnet mask text box.
For example, enter 255.255.0.0.
6 Enter an Edge or routed gateway address in the Gateway text box.
7 Click the DNS tab.
8 Enter DNS and WINS values as needed.
The DNS and WINS elds are optional if you are using an internal IPAM endpoint. If you are using an
external IPAM endpoint, the DNS and WINS values are provided by the external IPAM provider.
a (Optional) Enter a Primary DNS server value.
b (Optional) Enter a Secondary DNS server value.
c (Optional) Enter a DNS  value.
The DNS sux is used in DNS name registration and DNS name resolution.
d (Optional) Enter a DNS search  value.
e (Optional) Enter a Preferred WINS server value.
f (Optional) Enter an Alternate WINS server value.

You can congure IP ranges for static IP addresses. See “Congure External Network Prole IP Ranges,” on
page 183.
Configure External Network Profile IP Ranges
You can dene one or more network ranges of static IP addresses in the network prole for use in
provisioning a machine. If you do not specify a range, you can use a network prole as a network
reservation policy to select a reservation network path for a virtual machine network card (vNIC).
If an external network prole does not have IP ranges dened, you can use it to specify which network is
picked for a virtual network card (vNIC). If you are using the existing network prole in a routed or NAT
network prole, it must have at least one static IP range.
You can dene IP range values manually, from an imported CSV le, or by using IP addresses supplied by
an external IPAM provider.

Procedure
1 Click the Network Ranges tab.
2 Click New to enter a new network range name and IP address range manually or click Import from
CSV to import the IP address information from a properly formaed CSV le.

Click Add.

c Enter the start IP address of the range in the Starting IP address text box.
