Authenticating Users Against LDAP
TheprocedurestoauthenticateLDAPusersdependonwhetherthelogged‐inStage
ManageradministratorwasauthenticatedusingLDAP.
To specify a user authentication method as a Stage Manager Administrator
already authenticated against the LDAP server
1Intheleftpane,clickSettings.
2Ifyouplantochangeauserfromanon‐LDAPdesignationtoanLDAP
designation,selecttheValidateLDAPUserswhenEditedcheckbox.
Because
theadministratorselectingthecheckboxisalreadyauthenticatedasan
LDAPuser,thischeckboxenablestheIsLDAPcheckboxonthepropertiespage
forusersandallowsStage Managertovalidatetheexistenceoftheuserinthe
ActiveDirectorydomain(seeStep 5).
3Intheleftpane,click
Users.
4MovethepointerovertheusernameandchoosePropertiesfromthemenu.
5Specifyanauthenticationmethod:
SelectingtheIsLDAPcheckboxandclickingOKensuresthattheActive
Directorydomain,ratherthantheStage Manageruserdatabase,authenticates
thisuserwhenheorshelogsintotheWebconsole.See“LDAPBindingand
GroupStrings”onpage 100.
IfStage ManagercannotvalidatetheuserasanLDAP
user,amessageappears
notingtheissue.
DeselectingtheIsLDAPcheckboxandclickingOKensuresthe
Stage Manageruserdatabase,ratherthananActiveDirectorydomain,
authenticatesthisuserwhenheorshelogsintotheWebconsole.
To specify the user authentication method as a Stage Manager Administrator
without LDAP server access
1Intheleftpane,clickSettings.
2 DeselecttheValidateLDAPUserswhenEditedcheckbox.
Thisactionactivates
theIsLDAPcheckboxdescribedinStep 5.
