Stage ManageradministratorscanconfigureStage Managertocreateandauthenticate
usercredentialsagainstanActiveDirectoryserverinsteadoftheStage Manageruser
database.Thissetupeasestheuseradministrationofthesystem.Insteadofmanually
creatingalltheuseraccounts,youenableanentirecompany(orsubset)ofusersby
pointingthe
installationtotheappropriateActiveDirectorydomainordomain
controller.
TopointStage ManagertoanActiveDirectorydomain,enteranLDAPbindingstring
andoptionalgroupspecificationintheadministratorsettingsareaoftheWebconsole.

Whenauserinitiallytriestolog
intoStage Managerwithanunknownlogin,
Stage ManagerchecksthecredentialsagainsttheActiveDirectorydomain.Ifthe
credentialssucceed,Stage Managercreatesanewdefaultuseraccount,marksthat
accountasanLDAPaccount,andlogstheuserintothesystem.
Administratorscanaltertherecordsofanexistinguser
andchangetheway
Stage Managerauthenticatesauser.Forexample,youcangiveanLDAPaccount
administrativeprivileges.YoucanalsospecifywhetherStage Managerauthenticates
usersusingtheActiveDirectorydomainortheStage Managerdatabase.
IfyoucreateauseraccountinStageManager,andtheLDAPserverhasanaccount
with
thesameusername,StageManageronlyauthenticatestheuseragainsttheStage
Manageraccount.TheLDAPcredentialsarenotvalidinStageManagerunlessyou
completeoneoftheseoptions:
DeletetheStageManageraccountwiththatusername.
IfyouareaStageManageradministratorauthenticatedagainanLDAPaccount,
logintoStageManager,edittheuserpropertiesfortheuseryouwantto
authenticateagainsttheLDAPserver,andselecttheIsLDAPcheckbox.
IfyouareaStageManageradministratorwithoutanLDAPaccount,navigateto
theGeneraltaboftheSettingspage,deselecttheValidateLDAPUserswhen
Editedcheckbox,navigatetothepropertiesoftheuser,andselecttheIsLDAP
checkbox.
