Stage ManagerusestheinstallationIDtogenerateMACaddressesforvirtual
machines.
IfyouhavemorethanoneStage Managerinstallationonthesamenetwork,each
installationmusthaveauniqueID.Stage ManagerrandomlyassignsanIDandallows
theadministratortomanuallyeditthevalueincaseanIDcollisionoccurs.
Settinga
uniqueinstallationIDensuresthevirtualmachinenetworktrafficofeachinstallation
doesnotinterferewitheachother.
Stage ManagergenerateshundredsofMACaddressesbasedontheinstallationID.
Stage ManagerassignstheseMACaddressestovirtualmachines.Ifyouhavemore
thanoneStage Managerinstallationonanetworkwith
thesameinstallationID,
Stage ManagergeneratesthesamesetofMACaddressesforbothinstallationsand
causesaMACaddressconflictthatcancreatecomplications.
Stage ManagercannotregenerateMACaddressesondeployedmachines.Ifyou
changetheinstallationIDinanenvironmentwithdeployedvirtualmachines,the
changefailsbecausesome
addressesareinuse.
Adding IP Addresses to the Stage Manager IP Pool
Stage Manageradministratorscanaddamaximumof1024IPaddressesatatimetothe
IPpool.Nolimitexistsonthenumberoftotaladdressesyoucanuse.
EveryvirtualmachinerequiresanIPaddress.Avirtualmachinerequiresanadditional
IPaddressforfencedmode.
Everyvirtualrouter(automaticallycreated
forfencedconfigurations)requirestwoIP
addresses.VirtualmachineIPaddressesremainallocateduntilyoudeleteavirtual
machine.TheaddressesforavirtualrouterreturntotheIPpoolwhenyouundeploya
fencedconfiguration.
