Duringtheunprepareoperation,StageManagertriestouninstalltheStage
Manageragentandremovethedefaultportgroup.Ifthisattemptfails,Stage
Managercontinuestounpreparethehostandrelaysthesefailuresinamessage.
Renaming the Default Portgroup
Undercertainconditions,Stage Managerattemptstorenamethedefaultportgroupon
ahost.Forexample,becauseStage Managermightbeawareofareasontonotdeploy
virtualmachinesonthehostwhileVMotionandVMwareDRSfeaturesmightnotbe
awareofthereason,Stage Managerrenamestheportgroup.
WhenStageManager
isawareofahostwithconditionsthatpreventvirtualmachine
operations,itdoesnotdeployvirtualmachinestothathost.VMotionandVMwareDRS
arenotawareoftheseconditionsandmightattempttomovevirtualmachinestothis
host.Byrenamingthedefaultportgroup,StageManagerpreventsVMotionand
VMwareDRSfrommigratingvirtualmachinestothishost.Whenthoseconditionsno
longerexist,StageManagerattemptstorenametheportgrouptoitsoriginalname.A
disabledhostorthesehoststatestriggerthesesituations:
NoManagedResourcePools
AgentisHung

Ifaconditionexiststhatpreventstheportgroupnamechange(forexample,thehostis
disconnectedfromVirtualCenter),Stage Managermakesthechangeatalatertime.
Enabling Resources
Stage Manageradministratorscanenableresourcepools,hosts,datastoresforvirtual
machines,anddatastoresformedia.UsetheDatastorestabtoenablevirtualmachine
andmediastorecreation.UsetheMediaStorestabtoenablemediauseonamedia
store.
To enable a resource pool, host, or datastore
