Importing Templates from Lab Manager 2.x with VMware Tools and
LM Tools
IfyouimporttemplatesthatonceresidedinLab Manager,thetemplatesarelikelyto
haveanolderversionofVMw are ToolsandtheVMware Toolsenforcementcheckin
Stage Managerpreventsyoufrompublishingthetemplate.Reviewtheseoptions:
YoucanupgradeVMware Toolstotheversionavailableforinstallationin
Stage Manager.Thisallowsguestcustomizationandpublishingtooccur.
IfthetemplatehastheLab ManagerLM Toolsutility,youcandisablethe
VMware Toolsenforcementcheck(see“DisablingtheCheckofVMware Tools
PriortoPublishingTemplates”onpage 44).ThisallowsStage Managerto
customizeguestsaccordingtothemethodusedinLabManager.VMwaredoesnot
recommendthisapproach.
IfthetemplatedoesnothavetheLM Toolsutilityandyoudonotupgrade
VMware Tools,disablethePerformCustomizationsettingontheadvanced
propertiesoftemplates.See“DisablingGuestCustomization”onpage 43.
Shutting Down Templates
Shutdowntheguestoperatingsystemofthetemplatebeforeundeployingthe
template.
To shut down a Windows guest operating system
NavigatetothevirtualmachineconsoleandchooseStart>ShutDown.
To shut down a Linux guest operating system
ForLinuxguestoperatingsystems,navigatetothevirtualmachineconsoleandrunthis
command:
> shutdown -h now
