To deploy a template without default preferences
1Intheleftpane,clickVMTemplates.
2Ifthetemplateispublished(availableforconfigurationuse),movethepointerover
thetemplatenameandchooseUnpublishfromthemenu.
3MovethepointeroverthetemplatenameandchooseDeployfromthemenu.
4Specifythedeployoptions:
a Selectaresourcepool.
b Deselectthe
PowerOnAfterDeploymentcheckboxtoprevent
Stage Managerfromturningonvirtualmachinesimmediatelyafter
deployment.
Usethisoptionwhenyouneedtomanuallybringupatemplate.
cSpecifyatimetoundeploytheconfiguration.

Deploying Templates on High Availability Clusters
IfyoudeployatemplateonaclusterwithVMwareHA,StageManagerusesthesame
calculationthatVirtualCenterhasforassessingfreeslotsavailableinthecluster.After
assessingthatthehostshaveenoughresources,StageManagerpowersonthevirtual
machinetemplate.Ifthehostsdonotmeetcompatibility
requirements,thedeploy
operationfailsandStageManagerdisplaysamessage.
Ifyouexperienceafailure,youneedtoreconfiguretheresources.Forinformation
aboutresourcemanagement,seetheResourceManagementGuidefor
VMware Infrastructure3.
ThecalculationthatVirtualCenterandStageManagerusesisconservative.Ifnecessary,
disableitinVirtualCenter
tostopthiscalculationinStageManager.
To disable the calculation
1LogintotheVIClient.
2Right‐clicktheclusterandselectEditSettings.
3Intheleftpaneofthedialogbox,selectVMwareHA.
4IntheAdmissionControlsectionofthedialogbox,selectAllowvirtualmachines
tobepoweredonevenif
theyviolateavailabilityconstraints.
5ClickOK.
