To reset a virtual machine
1Intheleftpane,clickServices.
2MovethepointerovertheservicenameandchooseDetailsfromthemenu.
3IntheStagecolumnoftheLifecycletab,clickthethumbnailiconofthedeployed
virtualmachine.
4MovethepointeroverthevirtualmachinenameandchooseResetfromthemenu.
Shutting Down Virtual Machines
Usethevirtualmachineconsoletoshutdowntheguestoperatingsystem.This
producesthesameresultsasshuttingdowntheoperatingsystemfromwithinthe
guest.
ThisoperationdoesnotappearunlessVMware Toolsisinstalledandthevirtual
machineisbooted.Ifyoucannotseethisoperationaftermeetingthese
conditions,
refreshthepage.
Ifyoustillcannotseethisoperation,youmightbeusinganoldversionof
VMware Tools.Inthiscase,uninstalltheexistingversionandinstallVMware Toolsin
StageManager.See“InstallingVMware ToolsandPerformingGuestCustomization”
onpage 151.
To shut down a virtual machine

4MovethepointeroverthevirtualmachinenameandchooseShutDownfromthe
menu.
Suspending Virtual Machines
SuspendingadeployedvirtualmachinefreezestheCPUofthevirtualmachines.The
virtualmachineremainsregisteredwithVirtualCenter.
Forexample,suspendamachinewhenyouneedtostepawayfromthisenvironment
butyoudonotwanttolosethecurrentstate.
