Exporting and Importing Configurations
UseStage Managertoexportandimportconfigurations.Thesecopyoperationscan
takeanextendedperiodoftimeforeachvirtualmachineintheconfiguration.Thetime
dependsonthesizeofthevirtualmachine.
Exporting Configurations
FromtheLifecycleandArchivetabs,youcanexport(copy)anundeployed
configurationandallitsvirtualmachinefilestoSMBshare.Thisoperationassumesthat
youenabledasharedfolderwithfullcontrolpermissionsattheshareandfilesystem
level.
ExportandimportoperationsrequireanopenSMBport
ontheESXServerhosts.
AlthoughtheinstallationoftheStage Managersoftwaretakescareofopeningthatport,
beawareofthisrequirementincasesomeoneclosestheportaftertheinstallation.To
checktheportstatus,usetheesxcfg-firewall -q smbClientcommandoneach
host.
To export a configuration
1Intheleftpane,clickServices.
2Move
thepointerovertheservicenameandchooseDetailsfromthemenu.
3MovethepointerovertheundeployedconfigurationnameandchooseExport
fromthemenu.
Ifyouneedtoexportaconfigurationintheservicearchiveratherthananactive
lifecycleconfiguration,clicktheArchivetab,movethepointerover
the
configurationname,andchooseExportfromthemenu.
4Provideconfigurationdetails:
UNCnameofthedirectory(relativetotheStage ManagerServersystem)
whereyouwantyourconfigurationfilesstored.Asamplepathis
\\10.6.1.246\ExportConfigs.UseEnglishcharactersfortheUNCpath.
Usernameandpasswordfortheexportdirectory,ifnecessary.
