Undeploying Configurations
UndeployingaconfigurationunregistersitsvirtualmachinesfromVirtualCenter.You
canundeployaconfigurationandsaveitsstateorundeployaconfigurationand
discardthestate.
Savingthememorystatehelpsyoutodebugmemoryspecificissuesandmakesvirtual
machinesintheconfigurationreadyfordeploymentandusealmostinstantly.
If
anESXServerhostgoesofflineorsomeonemanuallyremovesavirtualmachinefrom
VirtualCenterinventory,thestandardundeployoperationdoesnotwork.Stage
Mangeradministratorscansee“UndeployingConfigurationswithForce”onpage 111.
To undeploy a configuration
1Intheleftpane,clickServices.
2MovethepointerovertheservicenameandchooseDetails
fromthemenu.
3MovethepointerovertheconfigurationnameandchooseUndeploy‐SaveState
orUndeploy‐DiscardStatefromthemenu.
Promoting and Demoting Configurations
Youcanpromoteaconfigurationtoalaterstageofthelifecycle.Forexample,youfinish
developmentinstage1andyouneedtostarttestingaconfigurationinstage2.
Dependingonyouruserrole,youcandemoteaconfigurationtoeithertheprevious
stageoranyearlierstage.
If
youmoveaconfigurationintoanotherstagethatusesadifferentresourcepoolthan
theoriginalstage,Stage Managerattemptstomovethevirtualmachinesofthe
configurationtothenewresourcepool.Iftheconfigurationisfenced,Stage Manager
mightnotbeabletomovethevirtualmachinestothenewresource
pool.Thisoccurs
whenthenewresourcepoolisservedbyadifferentcomputeresource(clusteror
