YoucanuseVMwareViewwithVMwarevCenterServertocreatedesktopsfromvirtualmachinesthatare
runningonVMware

ESX™serversanddeploythesedesktopstoendusers.Inaddition,VMwareViewuses
yourexistingActiveDirectoryinfrastructureforuserauthenticationandmanagement.
Afteryoucreateadesktop,authorizedenduserscanuseWeb‐basedorlocallyinstalledclientsoftwareto
securelyconnecttocentralizedvirtualdesktops,back‐end
physicalsystems,orterminalservers.
VMwareViewconsistsofthefollowingmajorcomponents:
ViewConnectionServer–asoftwareservicethatactsasabrokerforclientconnectionsbyauthenticating
andthendirectingincominguserrequeststotheappropriatevirtualdesktop,physicaldesktop,or
terminalserver.
ViewAgent–asoftwareservicethatisinstalledonallguestvirtualmachines,physicalsystems,or
terminalserversinordertoallowthemtobe managedbyVMwareView .Theagentprovidesfeaturessuch
asconnectionmonitoring,VirtualPrinting,USBsupport,andsinglesign‐on.
ViewClient–asoftwareapplicationthatcommunicateswithViewConnectionServertoallowusersto
connecttotheirdesktops.
ViewClientwithLocalMode–aversionofViewClientthatisextendedtosupportthelocaldesktop
feature,whichallowsuserstodownloadvirtualmachinesandusethemontheirlocalsystems.
ViewAdministrator–aWebapplicationthatallowsViewadministratorstoconfigureViewConnection
Server,deployandmanagedesktops,controluserauthentication,initiateandexaminesystemevents,and
carryoutanalyticalactivities.
vCenterServer–aserverthatactsasacentraladministratorforVMwareESXserversthatareconnected
onanetwork.AvCenterServerprovidesthecentralpointforconfiguring,provisioning,andmanaging
virtualmachinesinthedatacenter.
ViewComposer–asoftwareservicethatisinstalledonavCenterservertoallowVMwareViewtorapidly
deploymultiplelinked‐clonedesktopsfromasinglecentralizedbaseimage.
ViewTransferServer–asoftwareservicethatmanagesandstreamlinesdatatransfersbetweenthe
datacenterandViewdesktopsthatarecheckedoutforuseonendusersʹlocalsystems.ViewTransfer
ServerisrequiredtosupportdesktopsthatrunViewClientwithLocalMode.
