Name a View Connection Server Group
YoucanassignanametoagroupofoneormoreViewConnectionServerhostsandsecurityservers.The
OperationsManagerconsoledisplaysthisnametohelpyouidentifythegroupwithinSCOM.
To name the View Connection Server group
OnoneoftheViewConnectionServerhostsinthegroup,usethe-Cand-coptions
withthevdmadmin
command.
vdmadmin -C -c <group>
Forexample,setthenameofaViewConnectionServergrouptoVCSG01.
vdmadmin -C -c VCSG01
Import the View MPs
WhenyouinstalltheViewConnectionServersoftware,theViewMPsarealsoloadedontotheView
ConnectionServerinstanceorsecurityserver.YoucancopytheViewMPstoaSCOMserverandusethe
ImportManagementPackswizardfromtheOperationsManagerconsoletoimportthem.
To import the View MPs on a SCOM server

View Discovery Script
TheVMware.View.DiscoveryMPcontainsascriptthatfindsViewinstalledsystems.Thediscoveryscript
probestheregistriesofWindowsserversforentriesthatindicatetheversionoftheViewsoftware,thetypeof
server,andthenameandIDoftheViewConnectionServergroup.Ifthescriptdetectsthata
Viewserveris
installedonacomputer,itcreatesinstancesoftheobjectclassesthataredefinedintheVMware.View.Library
MPandestablishestherelationshipsbetweenthesemanagedobjects.
ThescriptcanonlydiscoveraWindowsserverifyouhaveusedtheOperationsManagerconsoletoenablethe
