To install a standard server
1RunthefollowingexecutableonthesystemthatwillhosttheViewConnection
Server,wherexxxisthebuildnumberofthefile:
VMware-viewconnectionserver-xxx.exe
TheVMwareInstallationwizardisdisplayed.ClickNext.
2AccepttheVMwarelicensetermsandclickNext.
3AcceptorchangethedestinationfolderandclickNext.
4 ChoosetheStandard
deploymentoption.
5ClickNext>Install>Finish.
Replica Server Installation
ReplicaserversareadditionalViewConnectionServerinstancesthatareinstalledin
ordertoprovidehigh‐availabilityandloadbalancing.Whenareplicaserveris
installed,alocalLDAPinstanceisalsocreatedandtheViewLDAPdataonthereplica
serverisinitializedfromanexistingViewConnectionServer.
During
replicainstallation,anagreementisestablishedthatensureseveryView
ConnectionServerinthereplicatedgroupsharesthesameconfigurationdata.
WheneverachangeismadetoViewLDAPdataononesystem,theupdated
informationisautomaticallyproliferatedacrosseveryotherreplicaserverwithinthe
group.
Inordertoinstall
areplica,theremustbeatleastoneViewConnectionServerinstance
alreadypresentonyournetwork.Replicaserverscanuseeitherastandardserveror
anotherreplicaservertoinitializetheirdata.Onceinitialized,thebehaviorand
functionalityofthereplicaserverisidenticaltothatofastandardserver
andoffers
identicalfunctionality.
Intheeventofserverfailure,theotherserversinthereplicatedgroupwillcontinueto
operate.Ifthefailedserverresumesactivity,itsconfigurationdataisautomatically
updatedtoreflectanychangesthatmayhavetakenplaceduringtheoutage.Figure 2‐1
showstwoinstancesof
ViewConnectionServeroperatingasareplicatedgroup.
