Overview of View Connection Server
ViewConnectionServercommunicateswithVirtualCenterinordertoprovide
advancedmanagementofvirtualdesktops.Thisincludesvirtualdesktopcreationas
partofpoolmanagementandpoweroperations,suchasautomaticsuspendand
resume.
ViewConnectionServerperformsthefollowingfunctions:

Virtualdesktopsessionmanagement
Coordinationofthesecureconnectionestablishment,virtualdesktopconnection,
andsinglesign‐on
AdministrationserverusedbyViewAdministratorWebclient

View Connection Server Instances
ViewConnectionServerisinstalledonaMicrosoftWindowsServersystemthatis
locatedoneitheraphysicalorvirtualserverdedicatedtobrokeringViewManager
connections.ThehostsystemmustbejoinedtoanActiveDirectorydomain—butmust
notbeadomaincontroller—anditisrecommendedthatthehostsystem
usesastatic
IP address.
ThedomainuseraccountusedtoinstallViewConnectionServermusthave
administratorprivilegesonthatserver.TheViewConnectionServeradministratoralso
mustpossesadministrativecredentialsforVirtualCenter.
Theservercanbeinstalledasaeitherastandard,replica,orsecurityserver—the
instancetypeisselected
duringtheinstallationprocess.
CAUTIONDonotinstallViewConnectionServeronaplatformthatperformsanyother
functionsorroles—forexample,donotusethesamesystemtohostVirtualCenter.
NOTEInordertoaddusersinanActiveDirectorydomainotherthantheoneinwhich
youhaveinstalledastandardorreplicaViewConnectionServer,youmustestablisha
two‐waytrustrelationshipbetweentheirdomainandtheoneinwhichtheView
ConnectionServerislocated.
