Beforeyouattempttocreateanewlinkedclonedesktoppoolyoumustfirstensurethat
ViewManagerisabletocontactVirtualCenterandthattheViewComposerservicehas
started.Onceaconnectionhasbeenestablishedyouwillbeabletodeployanewlinked
clonedesktoppool.
To add or edit a VirtualCenter server entry in View Manager
1Fromwithin
theViewAdministrator,clickConfigurationtodisplaythe
configurationview.
2UnderVirtualCenterServers,ifyouhavenotalreadydonesoclickAddand
completethedetailsfortheVirtualCentertousewithViewManager:
aEntertheFQDNorIPaddressoftheVMwareVirtualCenterserveryouwant
ViewManagertocommunicate
withintheServeraddresstextbox.
bEnterthenameofaVirtualCenteruserintheUsernametextbox.
cEnterthepasswordthatcorrespondstotheuserenteredaboveinthe
Passwordtextbox.
d (Optional)EnteradescriptionforthisVirtualCenterserverintheDescription
textbox.
eIfyouwillbe
connectingtotheVirtualCenterthroughasecurechannel(SSL)
thenmakesurethatConnectusingSSLisselected.Thisisthedefaultsetting.

IftherequiredVirtualCenterserverisalreadypresent,selecttheentryandclick
Edit.
TheVirtualCentersettingslistisdisplayed.
3ClicktheCheckforViewComposerCompatibilitybuttontocheckthatthe
View ComposerserviceisrunningontheVirtualCenterserver.Ifthecheckis
successful,theViewComposerSettingspropertygroupisdisplayed.
CAUTIONDonotmodifytheParentVM(forexample,convertittoatemplate)from
withinVirtualCenterbeforeorduringthedeploymentprocess—theViewComposer
servicehasarequirementthattheParentVMremainsinastaticandunalteredstate
duringthisoperation.
CAUTIONIfyouenteraserverusingaDNSnameorURL,noDNSlookupis
performedtoverifywhetherornottheserverhaspreviouslybeenentered
usingitsIPaddress.AconflictwillariseifaVirtualCenterserverisaddedwith
bothitsDNSnameanditsIPaddress.
