Replica Server Installation
ReplicaserversareadditionalViewConnectionServerinstancesthatareinstalledin
ordertoprovidehigh‐availabilityandloadbalancing.Whenareplicaserveris
installed,alocalADAMinstanceisalsocreatedandtheViewLDAPdataonthereplica
serverisinitializedfromanexistingViewConnectionServer.
Duringreplicainstallation,anagreementise
stablishedthatensureseveryView
ConnectionServerinthereplicatedgroupsharesthesameconfigurationdata.
WheneverachangeismadetoViewLDAPdataononesystem,theupdated
informationisautomaticallyproliferatedacrosseveryotherreplicaserverwithinthe
group.
Inordertoinstallareplica,th
eremustbeatleastoneViewConnectionServerinstance
alreadypresentonyournetwork.Replicaserverscanuseeitherastandardserveror
anotherreplicaservertoinitializetheirdata.Onceinitialized,thebehaviorand
functionalityofthereplicaserverisidenticaltothatofastandardserverandoffe
rs
identicalfunctionality.
Intheeventofserverfailure,theotherserversinthereplicatedgroupwillcontinueto
operate.Ifthefailedserverresumesactivity,itsconfigurationdataisautomatically
updatedtoreflectanychangesthatmayhavetakenplaceduringtheoutage.Figure 2‐1
