What to do next
To view a list of backups and the status of each backup, open the database by double-clicking the database
name in the Manage & Monitor tab. Click the Backup & Recovery tab in the middle pane. The list of database
backups appears in the Backup List section.
To review the backup schedule, click the Backup Schedule link.
To take a one-time manual backup, right-click the database name in the navigation pane and select Take
Manual Backup.
Create a Database Snapshot
A database snapshot is a read-only, static view of a database (the source database). The database snapshot is
transactionally consistent with the source database as of the moment of the snapshot's creation, minus any
uncommitted transactions.
Snapshot backups capture changes to the database, and are used for maintaining historical data for report
generation, safeguarding data against administrative and user error, and managing a test database. See
“Snapshot Backups,” on page 151.

Procedure
1 In Data Director, select the organization and click the Manage & Monitor tab.
2 In the navigation pane, select the database group, and click the down arrow to show the list of databases.
3 Right-click the database name and select Backup and Recovery, then select Take Manual Backup.
4 In the Take Manual Backup dialog, select the relevant manual backup options.

Select Snapshot from the drop down menu.
Retention
Select how long to keep the snapshot backup.
Backup label
Type a name by which to identify the snapshot backup.
Schedule action
Select the Schedule action checkbox to specify a date and time to run the
snapshot backup.
