Manage database backup and restore operations.
See Chapter 12, “Safeguarding Data,” on page 149 for information about backing up and restoring data. See
Chapter 8, “Managing Database Templates,” on page 91 for information about managing database
configuration templates and database backup templates.
Managing Database Properties
DBAs and application developers with appropriate privileges manage database properties, such as storage
allocation, database name, backup and resource templates, and database parameter groups.
Database properties and settings control how the database operates. You can manage and adjust certain
settings, such as resource allocation, database connection limits, and whether and how often to perform
automatic tasks. You can view, but cannot change, database properties such as the UUID and connection string.
General
General properties include basic information about the database. You cannot
change the database name, connection string, or the UUID. See “Edit General
Database Properties,” on page 123 in this chapter. If you have Manage
administrator accounts privileges, you can configure OS remote access settings
or add a database administrator account.
Resources
Database resource properties include the number of vCPUs, memory size,
priority, reservation, and so on. If you have Edit resource settings privileges
on the database, you can modify resource settings, or click Edit to select a
resource template. See “Edit Database Resource Settings,” on page 124in this
chapter. See also Chapter 8, “Managing Database Templates,” on page 91.
Parameters
Parameters include database engine aware settings. If you have Edit Settings
privileges on the database, you can modify parameters or choose from available
parameter groups. See Chapter 8, “Managing Database Templates,” on
page 91
Backup
When you create a database, you choose a backup template. If you have Edit
backup settings privileges on the database, you can edit backup settings and
select a template. See “Edit Database Backup Settings,” on page 124 in this
chapter. See also Chapter 8, “Managing Database Templates,” on page 91.
Cloning
With Clone Administration privileges, you can define clone access policy for
the database and specify post-clone scripts. See Chapter 10, “Cloning
Databases,” on page 127.
SSL
With Edit Settings privileges, you can import key files, load certificates, and
regenerate keys. See Chapter 19, “Managing SSL Keys and Certificates,” on
page 207.
IP Whitelists
With Manage IP whitelists privileges, you can edit connections to the database
by allowing all connections or allowing connections only from selected IP
whitelists. You can create custom IP whitelists or select an organization IP
whitelist. See Chapter 6, “IP Whitelists,” on page 83.
Automatic Refresh
For cloned databases, you can set the schedule to automatically refresh the
database to the latest state of the source database. See “Clone a Database,” on
page 129.
