To configure email log notifications
1ToconfigurevCenterServerHeartbeattoemailacopyofthelogfile,clickontheMailLogFiletab,select
MailEvery,andconfigurethedayandtimetosendthelogfile.
2Specifytherecipients.ClickAddonthetopleftoftheemailrecipientfieldandtypethe
emailaddressin
theAddMailAddressdialog.
3Toremovearecipient,selecttherecipient’semailaddressintheMailLogFilepaneandclickRemove.
4ClickOK.
Review Event Logs
TheLogs:EventLogpanelistseventsloggedchronologicallybydefault.
TheEventlogshowsthetimetheeventhappened,thetype,thesource,itsimportance,anditsdetail.The
displayorderforeventscanbesortedeitherdescendingorascendingbyclickingonthecolumnheading.Since
thedetailin
thedatagridistruncated,itmaybenecessarytoreviewtheloginmoredetail.
To review the details
1Double‐clicktheentryinthedatagrid.
EventPropertiesdisplaysthefulldetailandtraceofthelogthatcausedtheeventandthesourceofthe
errortoaidintroubleshooting.
2UsetheUp
andDownarrowsinthiswindowtoreviewotherlogs.Thisfeatureisusefulwheremany
eventshaveoccurredsimultaneouslyandhelpstoidentifythesourceoftheproblem.
3ClickClosetoclosetheEventProperties.
Event Log Filters
ThelistoflogsthatvCenterServerHeartbeatdisplaysmaybefilteredtohidelessimportantlogs.
To filter log events by importance
1ClickFilterstoinvoketheEventLogFiltersdialog.
2 SelectEventsofatLeast.
3 SelecttheShoweventsofatleastcheckboxintheImportancegroup.
4 Selecttheimportancelevelfromthedrop‐down
listandclickOK.
Onlylogsequaltoorabovetheselectseverityaredisplayed.
To filter log events by date and time range
1 SelecttheOnlyshoweventsfromcheckboxandadjustthestartdate,enddate,andtime.
2ClickOK.
