Applications: Rules
Rulesareimplementedbyplug‐ins(therearenouser‐definedrules).Configureruleactionstotriggertherule
thatperformsspecifictasks.Ruleshavetwotriggerproperties:
Timed–Theymustevaluateastruecontinuouslyforthespecifieddurationtotrigger.
Latched–Theytriggerassoonastheyev aluatetotrue.

TheApplications:Rulespageprovidesalistofruleswiththeircurrentstatusandtwowaystoeditandcheck
rules.
Checking a Rule Condition
vCenterServerHeartbeatallowsyoutochecktheruleconditionsofthecurrentconfigurationagainstthe
attributesofthesystemorapplication.
To check a rule condition
Right‐clickontheruleandselectCheckNowfromthemenuorclickCheckNowatthetopofthepane.The
ruleconditionisdisplayedinthe
pane.
Edit a Rule
Rulesareimplementedbyplug‐insandcannotbecreatedbyusers.Eachplug‐incontainsadefaultsetofrules
withoptionsthatmaybemodifiedbytheuser.
To edit a rule
1Right‐clickontheruleandselectEditfromthemenuorclickEditatthetopofthepane.
2Edit
theparametersoftheruleandclickOK.
