Tasksareageneralizationandextensionofstart,stop,andmonitorscripts.Tasktypesaredeterminedbywhen
thetasksrun,andincludethefollowing:
NetworkConfiguration–Thisisthefirsttypeoftaskthatrunswhenapplicationsstartandisintended
tolaunchdnscmdorDNSUpdate.Thetaskcanlaunchabatchscriptcontainingmultiplednscmd
commands.NetworkConfigurationtasksaretheonlytypesoftaskthatcanvarybetweenPrimaryand
Secondaryservers.
Periodic–Thesetasksarerunaspecificconfigurableintervals.
Pre/PostStart–Thesetasksrunbeforeandafterservicesstartontheactiveserver.
Pre/PostStop–Thesetasksrunbeforeandafterservicesstopontheactiveserver.

Adding a Task
To add a task
1ClickAddtoinvoketheAddTaskdialog.Assignanametothetask.
2 Selectthetasktypefromthedrop‐downlist.
3 Selecttheidentityoftheserverthetaskrunson(PrimaryorSecondary).
4IntheCommandtextbox,typeinthepathorbrowsetothescript,.batfile,orcommandforthetaskto
perform.
5ClickOK.
Editing a Task
Youcanedittheintervalofataskordisableatask.
To edit a task
1Right‐clickonanexistingtaskandselectEditfromthemenuorselectthetaskandclickEditatthetopof
thepanetoinvoketheEditTaskdialog.
2Edittheparametersofthetask.
3ClickOK.
Remove a Task
Toremoveatask,selectthetaskintheApplications:TaskpageandclickRemove.
