Getting Started with VMware View
5IfyouselectedtheLoginascurrentusercomponent,youcanfurtherconfigurethedefaultbehaviorwhen
usersloginusingViewClient:
SelectShowinconnectiondialogtodisplaytheLoginascurrentusercheckboxintheViewClient
connectiondialogbox.
Whenthischeckboxisselected,theidentityandcredentialinformationthattheuserprovidedwhen
loggingintotheclientsystemispassedtotheViewConnectionServer
instanceandultimatelytothe
Viewdesktop.
SelectSetdefaultoptiontologinascurrentusertohavetheLoginascurrentusercheckbox
selectedbydefaultintheViewClientconnectiondialogbox.
ClickNext.
6AcceptorchangethedestinationfolderandclickNext.
7 (Optional)EntertheFQDNorIPaddressoftheserver
towhichtheclientwillconnectandclickNext.
8ConfigureshortcutsforViewClientandclickNext.
9IfyouwanttolaunchViewClientwheninstallationiscompleted,selectthecheckbox.
10 ClickInstall>Finish.
To start View Client
1IfViewClient doesnotstartautomaticallyafter installation,double‐clickthedesktopshortcut
orclick
Start > Programs>VMware>VMware ViewClient.
2IntheConnectionServerdrop‐downmenu,enterthehostnameorIPaddressofaViewConnectionServer.
3 (Optional)IftheLoginascurrentusercheckboxisdisplayed,youcanselectthischeckboxtousethe
credentials
thatyouspecifiedwhenyouloggedintothissystemtologintotheViewConnectionServer
andtheViewdesktop.
IfyoudonotselectLoginascurrentuser, youhavetoprovidecredentialstologinmultipletimesbefore
youcanaccessaViewdesktop.
Ifyou
selectLoginascurrentuserandyouareauthorizedtologintotheViewConnectionServer,you
arenotpromptedtoenterlogincredentialsinStep 5.
4ClickConnect.
5Enterthecredentialsforanentitleduser,selectthedomain,andclickLogin.
Ifyoutypetheusernameasuser@domain
,itistreatedasauserprincipalname(UPN)becauseofthe
at‐sign(@),sothedomaindrop‐downmenudims.
6 SelectadesktopfromthelistprovidedandclickConnect.
ViewClientattemptstoconnecttothespecifieddesktop.
Afteryouareconnected,theclientwindowappears.
