Using System Tools 11
vCenter Operations Manager includes several system tools. You can use these tools to manage and troubleshoot
the file system database (FSDB), monitor and troubleshoot vCenter Operations Manager performance, check
communication between the vCenter Operations Manager server host and remote or local collectors, configure
and run the Repository Adapter, and estimate how many resources a host can support.

Summary of vCenter Operations Manager System Tools
For each system tool, vCenter Operations Manager provides a batch (.bat) file version for Windows hosts and
a shell script (.sh) file version for Linux hosts.
Table 11-1. vCenter Operations Manager System Tools
Tool Description
FSDBCheck Checks for and repairs problems, such as data corruption caused by a
power failure, in the vvCenter Operations Manager FSDB.
FSDBHomeChanger Moves the vCenter Operations Manager FSDB to a new location and
updates all properties associated with its location.
FSDBJDBCDriver A driver that accesses metrics from the FSDB by using a standard JDBC
driver. See Chapter 12, “Using the FSDB JDBC Driver,” on page 137.
FSDBReader Takes a data file that contains metric information for a resource in
binary format and generates individual human-readable output files
that contain the data for each metric.
FSDBCleaner Removes all vCenter Operations Managere system-generated metrics
from the FSDB.
