Datastore Requirements
VirtualmachinesandmediafilescanresideonVMFSandNFSdatastores.Formore

VMwarerecommendssharedstorage(NFS,iSCSI,orFiberChannel).VMwarealso
recommendsusingasmallnumberoflargeSANVMFSpartitionsratherthanalarge
number
ofsmallpartitions.
ThefollowingareVMFSdatastorerequirements:
Thedatastoremusthaveenoughspaceforthechainofdeltadisksgeneratedfrom
virtualmachineoperations.Thechaincannotspanmultipledatastores.
Forvariouschanges,Lab Managerfreezestheoriginaldeltadiskandcreatesanew
one.Thechainlengthindicateshowscatteredthevirtualmachineimageisacross
thedirectories
ofadatastore.
