To check the sample template and configuration
1Intheleftpane,clickWorkspacetoseetheSample1configuration.
2Intheleftpane,clickTemplatestoseethettylinux‐4‐ESX3(<owner>)template.
Thefirsttimeyoudeployatemplateorconfigurationtoviewavirtualmachineconsole,
youmustfollowtheinstructionstoinstalltheActiveXcontrol.
Afterthe
ActiveXinstallation,youcanlogintoavirtualmachineconsoleofthe
ttylinux‐4‐ESX3(<owner>)templateorSample1configurationasrootanduse
“lab manager”asthepassword.
Configuring NFS Servers
IfyouplanonusinganNFSserverforadditionalmediastorageorvirtualmachine
storage,youneedtoconfigureitaccordingly.Youmustusedifferentexportedshares
formediaandvirtualmachinestorage,butthesesharescanresideonthesameNFS
server.
Foradditionalmediastorage,configuretheNFS
servertoallowread‐onlyaccessbyall
ManagedServersystems.
Forvirtualmachinestorage,configuretheNFSservertoallowread‐writeaccessbyall
ManagedServersystems,includingread‐writeaccessbythesystemʺrootʺaccount.
Virtualmachinesarestoredina/VMdirectoryundertheexportedshare.You
donot
havetocreatethisdirectoryyourself.
NOTETheTemplatespagemaynotbeaccessibletonon‐administratorusers.
NOTEManagedServersystemsneedtoaccesstheNFSserverusingtheVMkernelIP
address.Ifyouusehost‐basedaccesscontrolontheNFSserver,youmustallowaccess
throughtheVMkernelIPaddressforallManagedServersystems.
