Chapter 9 Managing Resources
Delete a Datastore
DeletingadatastoreremovesthedatastorefromallorganizationsanddeletesallLabManagerdataonthat
datastore.Onlysystemadministratorscandeletedatastores.
Beforeyoudeleteadatastore,completetheseactivities:
DisconnectthedatastoreinvCenter.
Forexample,ifthedatastoreisconnectedtothreehostsmanagedbyLab Manager,disconnectthe
datastorefromallthreehoststhroughvCenter.
Disablethedatastore.See“EnableandDisableDatastores”onpage 95.
Makesurethatthemediafilesassociatedwithadatastorearenotinuse.
IfyouremoveadatastorewithmediastoresandadditbacktoLab Managerlater,youneedtorecreate
themediastoresbecausetheoriginalonesarenolongeravailable.
To delete a datastore
1IntheOrganizationdrop‐downmenu,select
Global.
2Intheleftpane,clickResources.
3OntheDatastorestab,movethepointeroverthedatastoreandselectDelete.
4ClickOK.
Lab Managerdeletesthedatastore.
Remove a Datastore
YoucanonlyremoveadatastorefromanorganizationotherthanGlobal.Removingadatastoredeletesthe
datastoreasaresourcefromjustthatorganization.Thedatastoreisavailabletotheotherorganizationsin
Lab Manager.
To remove a datastore
1IntheOrganizationdrop‐downmenu,selectanorganizationotherthanGlobal.
2Intheleftpane,
clickResources.
3OntheDatastorestab,movethepointeroverthedatastoreandselectRemove.
4ClickOK.
Enable and Disable Datastores
Asthesystemadministrator,youcanenableanddisabledatastores.Whenyoudisableadatastore,youcannot
deploytheconfigurationsassociatedwiththedatastore,createvirtualmachinesonthedatastore,orcreatea
mediastoreonthedatastore.
To enable or disable a datastore
1Intheleftpane,clickResources.
2IntheDatastorestab,movethepointer
overthedatastoreandselectEnableorDisable.
3ClickOK.
Lab Managerenablesordisablesthedatastore.
