Reset a Network Interface MAC Address
YoucanresetanetworkinterfaceMACaddressforanundeployedvirtualmachine.YoumightresetaMAC
addressifyouhaveaMACaddressconflictorifyouneedtodiscardsavedstatequicklyandeasily.
To reset the MAC address for a network interface
1MovethepointerovertheconfigurationnameandselectOpen.
2OntheVirtualMachines
tab,movethepointeroverthevirtualmachinenameandselectProperties.
3IntheNetworkInterfacessection,selectResetfromtheMACAddressdrop‐downmenuforthenetwork
interfacethatyouwanttoupdate.
4ClickUpdate.
Add a Network Interface
YoucanaddoneormorevirtualNICstoanundeployedvirtualmachine.Avirtualmachinecanhaveupto
fourNICs(virtualmachineversion4)ortenNICs(forvirtualmachineversion7).
To add a network interface
1MovethepointerovertheconfigurationnameandselectOpen.
2OntheVirtualMachinestab,movethe
pointeroverthevirtualmachinenameandselectProperties.
3IntheNetworkInterfacessection,clickAddInterface.
Lab ManageraddsandconnectsanewvirtualNIC.
4 (Optional)EditthevirtualNICsettings.
a DeselecttheConnectedcheckboxtodisconnectthevirtualNIC.

Theavailableoptionsarebasedonthenetworksinthevirtualmachinetemplate.Ifyouhaveaccess

thedefaultandonlygatewayforthevirtualmachine.The
virtualmachinecanuseanyNICtoconnecttoothermachinesthataredirectlyconnectedtothesame
networkastheNIC,butitcanonlyusetheprimaryNICtoconnecttomachinesonnetworksthat
requireagatewayconnection.
ConsiderthisbehaviorwhenselectingaprimaryNIC,especiallyifyouplantodeployconfigurations
thatusefencingorconnectvirtualnetworkstophysicalnetworks.
