Export a Configuration to an SMB Share
YoucanexportaconfigurationtoanSMBshareifyouwanttobeabletoimportaconfigurationbackinto
Lab Manageratalatertime,orifyouwanttoimportitintoaseparateLab Managerinstallation.
Thisoperationrequiresthatyouhaveasharedfolderwithfullcontrolpermissions
attheshareandfilesystem
level.Inaddition,thisoperationrequiresthatthedatastoreonwhichtheconfigurationvirtualmachinesreside
beconnectedtoanESXhostwithanopenSMBport.AlthoughLab Manageropenstheportduring
installation,makesurethattheportwasnotclosedaftertheinstall.
Tochecktheportstatus,run
esxcfg-firewall -q smbClientoneachhost.Ifthedatastoreonwhichtheconfigurationresidesisonly
connectedtoESXihosts,youcannotexporttoanSMBshare.
To export a configuration to an SMB share
1MovethepointerovertheconfigurationnameandselectExport.
2 SelectSMBFileServer.
3TypetheUNCpathof
thedirectory(relativetotheLab Managerserversystem)whereyouwantyour
configurationfilesstored.
UseEnglishcharactersfortheUNCpath.Asamplepathis\\10.6.1.246\VMwareLM\ExportConfigs.
4Typetheusernameandpasswordfortheexportdirectory,ifnecessary.
5ClickOK.
Lab Managercreatesconsolidatedcopiesoftheconfigurationvirtualmachineson
thedestination.
