Set Configuration Change Summary Preferences
Lab Managerrecordscertainconfigurationoperations,suchasaddingorremovinganetwork,deployingor
undeployingtheconfiguration,andsoon,aschangesummaries.Otheroperations,suchascloning,moving,
andarchiving,allowyoutoinputchangesummarytext.Changesummariescanbehelpfulfortrackingand
auditingpurposes.
Whenyoucreate
anewconfigurationbasedonanexistingone(forexample,bycloningaconfiguration)you
canspecifyhowmanyoftheoriginalconfiguration’schangesummariesyouwantthenewconfigurationto
inherit.
To set configuration change summary preferences
1Intheleftpane,clickSettings.
2ClicktheGeneraltab.
3 Selecthowmanychangesummariesyouwanttoinherit.
4ClickOK.
Configuring LDAP Settings
YoucanconfigureLab ManagertocreateandauthenticateusercredentialsagainstanLDAPserver.Insteadof
manuallycreatingalltheuseraccounts,youenableanentirecompany(orsubset)ofusersbypointingthe
installationtotheappropriateMicrosoftActiveDirectoryorOpenLDAPserver.
Lab Managerdoesnotsupporthierarchicaldomainsfor
LDAPauthentication.

ToprovideLab ManageraccesstoLDAPusers,youmustspecifytheLDAPsettingsandthenaddLDAPusers
orgroupstoaLab Managerorganization(see“CreateanOrganization”onpage 27).
Whenan
LDAPuserwhohasbeenaddedtoanorganizationlogsintoLab Manager,Lab Managerchecksthe
credentialsoftheuseragainsttheLDAPdirectory.Ifthecredentialsareaccepted,Lab Managercreatesanew
useraccountandlogstheuserintothesystem.
Lab ManagercannotmodifytheinformationinyourLDAPdirectory.You
canadd,delete,ormodifyLDAP
usersorgroupsonlyintheLDAPdirectoryitself.Lab Managerregularlysynchronizesuserandgroup
informationwiththeLDAPdirectory.
Locate an LDAP Server
BeforetypingahostnameandportinformationforyourLDAPserver,youcanhaveLab Managertrytolocate
anavailableLDAPserver.
To locate an LDAP server
1Intheleftpane,clickSettings.
2ClicktheLDAPtab.
3ClickLocateLDAPServer.
Lab ManagerlooksforLDAPserversregisteredwiththeDNSserverforthelocalcomputer.
IfLab Manager
findsanLDAPserver,itpopulatestheServerandPorttextboxes.IfLab ManagerfindsmultipleLDAPservers,
itchoosesonebasedontheDNSLDAPpriorityandweight.
