Editing Network Interface Settings
YoucandisconnectavirtualmachinetemplateNIC,changethenetworktowhicha
NICconnects,specifyaprimaryNIC,andchangetheIPaddressingmodeforaNIC.
To edit network interface settings
1OntheVMTemplatespage,movethepointeroverthevirtualmachinetemplate
nameandchoosePropertiesfromthemenu.
2Inthe
NetworkInterfacessection,changeanyofthefollowingsettings:
DeselecttheConnectedcheckboxtodisconnectavirtualNIC.
ChooseanetworkfromtheNetworkdropdownmenu.
Theavailableoptionsarebasedonthenetworktemplatesyouownorshare
andthephysicalnetworksavailabletoyourorganization.
SpecifyaprimaryNIC.
TheprimaryNICsettingdeterminesthedefaultandonlygatewayforvirtual
machinesbasedonthetemplate.ThosevirtualmachinescanuseanyNICto
connecttoothermachinesthataredirectlyconnectedtothesamenetworkas
theNIC,butitcanonlyusetheprimary
NICtoconnecttomachineson
networksthatrequireagatewayconnection.
ConsiderthisbehaviorwhenselectingaprimaryNIC,especiallyifyouplan
todeployconfigurationsthatusefencingorconnectvirtualnetworksto
physicalnetworks.
ChooseanIPaddressingmodeforthenetwork.
TheavailableoptionsarebasedontheIPaddressingmodesavailabletothe
selectednetwork.
Static‐IPPoolallowsLabManagertopullstaticIPaddressesfromthe
IPaddresspool.
DHCPallowsLab ManagertopullIPaddressesfromaDHCPserver.
ThisoptionavoidsthepreparationandspecificationofanIPaddressor
IPrange.However,youcannotuseLab Managerfencingorconnect
virtualnetworkstophysicalnetworkswithDHCP.
Static‐ManualallowsyoutospecifyanIPaddress.
IfyouselectedStatic‐ManualastheIPaddressingmode,typeanIPaddress
intheIPAddressfield.
