YoucanimportvirtualmachinesastemplatesfromanSMBshare.Donotimport
virtualmachinetemplatesmanuallywithESXcommands.
ImportingfromSMBrequiresanopenSMBportontheESXhost.Although
Lab Manageropenstheportduringinstallation,makesurethattheportwasnotclosed
aftertheinstall.
Tochecktheportstatus,usetheesxcfg-firewall-qsmbClient
commandoneachhost.
Importingavirtualmachinetemplateinvolvesspecifyingadeploymentleaseanda
storageleases.See“ConfiguringResourceCleanupSettings”onpage 198.
To import a virtual machine template from SMB storage
1Intheleftpane,clickVMTemplates.
2ClicktheImportVMTemplatebutton.
3Enteranamefor
theimportedvirtualmachinetemplate.
Thenamecanonlycontainalphanumericcharacters(a–z,A–Z,0–9),hyphens,
underscores,orperiods.Themaximumlengthis15characters.
4 (Optional)Enteradescription.
5 SelectSMBFileServerandenterthefollowinginformation:
aUNCpathtotheappropriateSMBshare(relativetotheLab ManagerServer
system).For
example,\\10.10.10.10\importdir.
UseEnglishcharactersfortheUNCpath.Lab ManagerdoesnotsupportSMB
sharesthatincludethe$symbolintheUNCpath.
bIftheUNCfolderrequiresauthentication,specifytheusernameand
passwordtoaccessthefiles.
