Resetting a Virtual Machine
Resettingavirtualmachinerestartsitandclearsthemachinestate.Thisoperationdoes
notshutdowntheguestoperatingsystem.
Ifabootimageisnotavailableinperipheralstorage,thevirtualmachinebootsoffthe
virtualharddisk.
To reset a virtual machine
1Fromthevirtualmachineconsolepage,movethepointeroverthe
virtualmachine
nameandchooseResetfromthemenu.
2Confirmtheresetoperation.
Shutting Down a Virtual Machine
Usethevirtualmachineconsoletoshutdowntheguestoperatingsystem.This
producesthesameresultsasshuttingdowntheoperatingsystemfromwithinthe
guest.
ThisoperationisonlyavailableifVMwareToolsisinstalledandthevirtualmachineis
booted.Ifyoucannotseethisoperationaftermeeting
theseconditions,refreshthepage.
Iftheshutdownoperationisstillnotavailable,youmightbeusinganoldversionof
VMwareTools.Inthiscase,uninstalltheexistingversionandinstallVMwareToolsin

To shut down a virtual machine
Fromthevirtualmachineconsolepage,movethe
pointeroverthevirtualmachine
nameandchooseShutDownfromthemenu.
Suspending and Resuming a Virtual Machine
SuspendingadeployedvirtualmachinefreezesitsCPU.Suspendamachinewhenyou
needtostepawayfromavirtualmachinebutyoudonotwanttoloseitscurrentstate.
ThevirtualmachineremainsregisteredwithVirtualCenter.
To suspend a virtual machine
Fromthevirtualmachineconsolepage,movethepointeroverthevirtualmachine
nameandchooseSuspendfromthemenu.
UsetheResumeoperationtoreverseasuspendedstate.
