Viewing a Virtual Machine Console
Youcanviewthevirtualmachineconsoleforadeployedvirtualmachineorvirtual
machinetemplatefromtheWorkspaceorVMTemplatespages.Thevirtualmachine
consoleprovidesaccesstotheguestoperatingsystemrunningonavirtualmachine,as
wellastooperationsthataffecttheguestoperatingsystem.
To view an individual virtual machine console in a configuration

2Useoneofthesemethodstoaccessavirtualmachine:
IntheConsolecolumn,clickthethumbnailiconofadeployedvirtual
machine.
MovethepointerovertheconfigurationnameandchooseOpenfromthe
menu.Fromthispage,eitherclickthethumbnailiconofadeployedvirtual
machineormovethepointeroverthemachinenameandchooseView
ConsoleorPopOutConsolefromthemenu.

Installing the ActiveX Control or VMware Remote MKS Plug-In
Inordertoviewvirtualmachineconsoles,youmustinstalleithertheActiveXcontrol
(forInternetExplorer)ortheVMware Remote MKS Plugin(forFirefox).
ThefirsttimeyouviewtheconsoleforavirtualmachineusingInternetExplorer,follow
theinstructionstoinstalltheActiveXcontrol.
Thefirsttimeyouviewthe
consoleforavirtualmachineusingFirefox,theconsole
displaysamessageaboutinstallingtheVMware Remote MKS Plugin.
