Deployingavirtualmachineregistersitwitharesourcepoolandprovidesaccessto
Lab Manageroperationsatthevirtualmachineconsolelevel.
Thisoperationinvolvesspecifyingadeploymentlease.See“ConfiguringResource
CleanupSettings”onpage 198.
Whenyoudeployanindividualvirtualmachinefromaconfiguration,Lab Manager
deploysallphysicalandvirtual
networksassociatedwiththeconfigurationusingthe
networkconnectivityoptionsyouselect,regardlessofwhetherthespecificvirtual
machineyouaredeployingisconnectedtothem.Theseconnectivitysettingsremainin
effectwhenyoudeployothervirtualmachinesintheconfiguration.Tomodifythe
settings,youmustundeployandredeploy
thevirtualmachines.
Whenyouadeployanindividualvirtualmachinefromaconfigurationthatuses
fencingorthat hasavirtualnetworkconnectedtoaphysicalnetwork,theLab Manager
serverrequiresIPconnectivitytothephysicalnetworkonwhichthevirtualmachineis
stored.
To deploy a virtual machine
1OntheWorkspacepage,movethe
pointeroveraconfigurationnameandchoose
Openfromthemenu.
2OntheVirtualMachinestab,movethepointeroveravirtualmachinename,and
chooseDeployfromthemenu.
3 SelecttheFenceVirtualMachinescheckboxandchooseaconnectivitymode:
AllowInandOutVirtualmachinescancommunicatewithmachines
outsidethefence,andmachinesoutsidethefencecancommunicatewith
virtualmachinesinsidethefencedconfiguration.
AllowOutVirtualmachinesinafencedconfigurationcaninitiate
communicationtomachinesoutsidethefenceandcanreceivemessagesback
onthesameconnection.Machinesoutsidethefencecannotinitiate
communicationtovirtualmachinesinsidethefencedconfiguration.
BlockInandOutNetworktrafficdoesnottravelacrossthefence.Virtual
machinesinafencedconfigurationcannotcommunicatewithmachines
outsidethefence,andmachinesoutsidethefencecannotcommunicatewith
virtualmachinesinthefencedconfiguration.
Thecheckboxisonlyavailableifthevirtualmachinehas
aNICconnectedtoa
physicalnetwork.
