Undeploying Virtual Machines with Force
Ifstandardundeployoperationsdonotwork,Lab Manageradministratorscan
forcefullyundeployavirtualmachinetocleantheLab Managerdatabase.Anexample
ofthiskindofsituationiswhenanESXhostgoesofflineorsomeonemanuallyremoves
avirtualmachinetemplatefromVirtualCenterinventory.
TheForceUndeployoptionisvisible
evenwhentheUndeploy‐SaveStateand
Undeploy‐DiscardStateoptions(forasinglevirtualmachine)andUndeployallVMs
option(forallvirtualmachinesonahost)areavailable.Thoughintendedforspecial
circumstances,theForceUndeployoptionproducesthesameresultsasthe
Undeploy ‐DiscardStateoption(fora
singlevirtualmachine)instandard
circumstances.
To forcefully undeploy an individual virtual machine
1Intheleftpane,clickWorkspace.
2MovethepointerovertheconfigurationnameandchooseOpenfromthemenu.
3OntheVirtualMachinestab,movethepointeroverthevirtualmachinenameand
chooseForceUndeployfromthemenu.
To forcefully undeploy all virtual machines on a host

2OntheHoststab,movethepointeroverthehostandchooseForceUndeployfrom
themenu.

Deleting Published Virtual Machine Templates with Force
Ifastandarddeleteoperationdoesnotworkforapublishedvirtualmachinetemplate,
Lab Manageradministratorscanforcefullydeletethevirtualmachinetemplate.An
exampleofthiskindofsituationiswhenanESXhostfailurepreventsyoufrom
unpublishingthevirtualmachinetemplate.
TheForceDeleteoperationcleansthevirtual
machinetemplatefromtheLab Manager
databasebutnotfromtheVirtualCenterinventory.Youcanmanuallyremovethe
virtualmachinefromtheVirtualCenterinventory.
