Inserting Media from NFS Server Fails

TheVMkernelisattachedtoaNICthathasconnectivitytotheNFSstorageserver.
ThegatewayoftheVMkernelissettothecorrectvalueforthenetwork.
TheNICisup.
ConflictingNFSdatastorescannotexistontheManagedServersystem.
Conflictingdatastorescanariseeitherthroughtheexternalcreationofsuch
datastoresorthroughinternalprocesseswithinLab Manager.
Typically,Lab ManagercreatesdatastoreswiththeLabManagerNFS<ID>
namingformatwhichpointstoallNFSstorageserversenabledonthe
Lab ManagerServersystem.Thedatastoreactsasamountpointforinserted
media.IfanNFSdatastorealreadymountsanenabledNFSdatastores
managedbyLab Manager,Lab Managercannotcreatethe
NFSdatastoreon
theManagedServersystemandcannotaccessmediahostedonthestorage
server.ESXServerdoesnotallowtwodatastorestosharethesameNFS
mount.
Toaddressthissituation,removetheNFSdatastorethatisnotmanagedby
Lab Manager.
AsituationinwhichLab ManagermanagesconflictingNFSdatastorescan
arisewhenyouremoveanNFSserverfromLab Managerandavirtual
machinecurrentlyusesthatNFSserver.(Thevirtualmachinehasinserted
mediahostedontheNFSserver.)AlthoughLab Managerdoesnotreport
errorsontheNFSstorageserverremove
operation,theManagedServeragent
cannotremovetheNFSdatastorebecausethevirtualmachineisholdingonto
mediahostedbytheNFSdatastore.IfyouaddtheNFSdatastoreto
Lab Manageragain,Lab Managermightfailbecauseitisalreadymounted
underadifferentname.
Toaddressthissituation,ejectthe
mediafromthevirtualmachineand
manuallyremovetheNFSdatastorefromtheVIclient.Youcanremovethe
datastorefromLab Managerandadditagain.
